A plain-English overview of every mortgage and protection solution we arrange for the LGBTQ+ community — and how to work out which one fits your situation.
Pride Mortgages is a mortgage introducer, not a lender. That distinction matters: we have no products of our own to push and no lender whose range we're obliged to favour. Our job is to understand your situation and connect you with an FCA-regulated specialist who searches the whole market on your behalf.
Every adviser we introduce you to has been personally vetted — not just for their mortgage qualifications, but for their genuine understanding of the LGBTQ+ community. That means you can be completely open about your relationship, your income, your identity and your history without having to explain, justify or brace yourself.
Below is every solution we arrange. If more than one looks like you, that's normal and it's fine — you don't need to pick a category before getting in touch.
Each solution has its own detailed guide covering how it works, what lenders look for, and the specific considerations that apply to LGBTQ+ buyers.
Deposits, borrowing power, government schemes and Mortgage in Principle — the whole first purchase explained without jargon, from saving to getting the keys.
Best ifYou've never owned a property before, or haven't owned one in the last three years. First-Time Buyer guideJoint applications, ownership structures and the legal nuances of buying together — set up so both partners are fairly protected, whatever happens later.
Best ifYou're buying with a partner of the same sex, married, in a civil partnership or cohabiting. Same-Sex Couples guideName changes, updated ID, credit files that don't match, Gender Recognition Certificates — handled routinely and with full respect for your privacy and identity.
Best ifYou've changed your name or gender marker, or expect questions about ID and credit history. Trans & Non-Binary guideMove off your lender's standard variable rate, release equity, consolidate debt or simply cut your monthly payment — with the whole market searched, not one lender's shelf.
Best ifYou already own your home and your current deal is ending or has already ended. Remortgaging guidePort your existing deal or switch to a better one, bridge the gap between selling and buying, and keep a chain moving without paying over the odds to do it.
Best ifYou're selling your current home and buying another at the same time. Moving Home guideRental stress tests, limited company versus personal ownership, portfolio lending and the tax considerations that decide which structure actually leaves you better off.
Best ifYou're buying a property to rent out rather than to live in. Buy to Let guideSelf-employed, limited company director, contractor, multiple income streams or a non-UK national — presented to the lenders who actually understand how you earn.
Best ifYour income isn't a single PAYE salary, or a lender has already called your income "complex". Complex Income guideLife cover, critical illness and income protection written so the right person actually receives the money — which matters more, not less, if you're unmarried or estranged from family.
Best ifYou have a mortgage, or are about to, and want the people you choose protected. Life Insurance guideMost people fit more than one. The first four below describe what you're doing; the last three describe something about your circumstances that sits on top of it. You can be several at once — a same-sex couple buying their first home while one of you is self-employed is three of these, and it's a single conversation, not three enquiries.
Pick "Not Sure Yet" on the form, or just call us. Working out what you actually need is the adviser's job, not yours — and it costs you nothing to ask.
Your initial review and adviser match cost you nothing. Advisers are compensated by lenders when a mortgage completes, which is why there's no charge to you for the advice and introduction.
It depends on where you are now. If you have never owned a property, start with first-time buyer. If you already have a mortgage and want a better rate or to release equity, that is remortgaging. If you are moving to a new home, that is moving home. If you are buying as an investment to rent out, that is buy to let. The same-sex couples, trans and non-binary, and complex income pages cover circumstances that can apply on top of any of those. If you are not sure, say so on the form and we will work it out with you.
Very often, yes. A same-sex couple buying their first home together while one partner is self-employed touches three of our specialisms at the same time. The pages are organised by topic for clarity, but your adviser handles your whole situation in one conversation — you do not need to pick a category or start separate enquiries.
No. Pride Mortgages is a mortgage introducer, not a lender. We match you with an FCA-regulated specialist adviser who searches the whole market on your behalf, so the recommendation is not limited to one lender's range of products.
Your initial review and adviser match cost you nothing. Advisers are compensated by lenders when a mortgage completes. If any fee were ever to apply to your specific case, your adviser would tell you in writing before anything is agreed.
An adviser aims to contact you within 24 hours of your enquiry, usually sooner. From there, timescales depend on the solution: a Mortgage in Principle can be same-day, a full mortgage offer typically takes two to six weeks, and completion depends on your solicitor and the chain. Your adviser will give you a realistic timeline for your specific case at the first conversation.
